Dr Yvonne Luxford, CEO of Perinatal Wellbeing Centre welcomed this new funding, saying that, “We are grateful for the additional funding announced by Minister Rattenbury today. This will make a big difference in helping us to implement changes to the delivery mode of our care and support, coupled with increased service provision in an environment of greater demand”. Perinatal Wellbeing Centre provides free mental health support, education, information and referral for families during pregnancy and after the birth of baby. All programs are delivered by a team of perinatal mental health professionals. With the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19), PerinatalWellbeing Centre found that anxiety and stress of new parents and families was increasing. Adjusting to life with a new baby already brings about changes that can be overwhelming; however, with the current situation these feeling are becoming more acute. The announced boost of investment in our service by the Government will mean that Perinatal Wellbeing Centre will be able to continue to assist the increasing client load. It is especially welcome as our annual fundraising event, Cake Off, has been postponed to 2021, resulting in a significantshortfall over the coming months.
